01Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a contract between you and Samouraï Coop, a cooperative established in France ("we", "us"). They govern your use of the AlarmFriends mobile app and this website (together, "the Service").
By installing or using AlarmFriends you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
02What AlarmFriends does
AlarmFriends is a social alarm clock. You set alarms. You connect with friends through invite links. A friend records a short voice message, and that recording becomes the sound your alarm plays the next time it rings. You can react to what they sent and keep a shared wake streak.
You can set and use an alarm without an account. An account is needed only for the social features — friends, voice messages and reactions — because those require a server.
03Alarms are not a guaranteed service
AlarmFriends schedules alarms through the alarm and notification facilities your phone provides. Operating-system power saving, Focus and Do Not Disturb modes, manufacturer battery managers, force-closing the app, a silenced or discharged device, and system updates can all delay or prevent an alarm from ringing. That is outside our control.
Do not rely on AlarmFriends alone for anything you cannot afford to miss. Keep a second alarm for flights, exams, medication and the like. We are not liable for a missed wake-up.
04Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age of digital consent, that age applies to you.
- Accounts are created by signing in with Apple or Google. We do not issue passwords and we never see your Apple or Google credentials.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your Apple or Google account secure.
- One account per person. Do not create additional accounts to evade a block, a report or a suspension.
05Free and Premium
Waking up to a voice — receiving, reacting, streaks, invite links — is free for everyone, without limits. Free accounts also include a generous number of voice sends each week. Premium removes the weekly send limit, lifts the three-alarm cap and shows your friends' alarm times.

- Premium
- Unlimited voice sends, unlimited alarms and your friends' alarm times, so you know when to send. Everything in Free is included.
Price, billing and renewal
- Premium is sold as a monthly and an annual subscription. The price for your country and currency is shown in the app before you confirm, as supplied by the App Store or Google Play for your storefront. That displayed price is the price that applies.
- Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. We never receive or store your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your store account is charged within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You can cancel at any time in your device's subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. See Support for the exact steps.
- Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by us, because they process the payment. We can point you to the right form, but we cannot issue the refund.
- We may change Premium's price or what it includes. Changes apply from your next renewal, never retroactively, and we will tell you before they take effect.
06Your content
Voice recordings, alarm labels and your nickname are yours. You keep ownership of them.
To run the Service you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and transmit your content solely to deliver it to the friend you sent it to and to operate the app. We do not use your recordings for training, advertising or promotion, and we do not sell them.
Voice messages are transient by design: a recording is removed from our servers shortly after it is delivered. The exact retention windows are in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you record. Only send to someone who has accepted you as a friend in the app, and do not record other people without their consent.
07Objectionable content and abusive users
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. AlarmFriends plays a recording out loud, on someone's phone, next to their bed, at a moment they are defenceless. We treat abuse of that as serious.
The following are prohibited without exception:
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, bullying or stalking.
- Hate speech, or content attacking a person or group on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age.
- Sexual or sexually explicit audio, and anything whatsoever that sexualises a minor — the latter is reported to the competent authorities.
- Content promoting or encouraging self-harm, suicide, violence or illegal activity.
- Impersonating another person, and recordings made of someone without their knowledge.
- Audio designed to frighten, shock or distress the person who will hear it on waking.
How this is enforced
- Report. Every received voice message carries a report control. Reporting sends the recording and the sender to us for review.
- Block. You can block any user from your friends list or straight from a received message. A block immediately stops all further delivery from that person and hides what they already sent.
- We act within 24 hours. We review every report within 24 hours, remove content that breaches this section, and suspend or permanently terminate the accounts responsible. Serious cases are referred to law enforcement.
- Removal and termination happen without prior notice. There is no appeal where content involves a minor or a credible threat.
08Acceptable use
In addition to section 07, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Upload malware, or break, overload, probe or circumvent the Service's security, rate limits or entitlement checks.
- Reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except where that right cannot be excluded by law.
- Scrape, resell or commercially redistribute the Service, invite links, or data obtained from it.
- Use automated means to create accounts, send messages, or inflate streaks.
09Intellectual property
The app itself — its code, design, name, logo and the sounds we supply — belongs to Samouraï Coop and is protected by intellectual property law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app; they transfer nothing else.
10Ending your use
You can stop at any time. Deleting your account in Profile → Settings → Delete account removes your account, your alarms, your friend connections and every voice recording you sent or received. The deletion runs immediately, while you wait — the Privacy Policy covers exactly what that reaches.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings first, or you will keep being charged.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue it we will give reasonable notice and stop charging subscriptions.
11Disclaimer
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely or error-free — see section 03 on alarms in particular.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing here limits the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
12Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Samouraï Coop is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damage, or for lost profit, data or opportunity, arising from your use of the Service — including a missed alarm, a recording that failed to arrive, or a deleted recording.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or €50.
13Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top and, for changes that materially affect your rights, notify you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept the updated Terms.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law, and disputes fall to the competent courts of France. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings there.
Before going to court, write to us — most things are settled by email. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
